Powell Law Group, P.C., practices law from its principal office in Midlothian, Virginia, in the Richmond, Virginia metropolitan area located in the central part of the Commonwealth. The firm represents clients throughout the state of Virginia and Washington D.C.
In the firm’s civil trial practice, we strive to provide the best legal representation and professional advocacy in the areas of personal injury and workers’ compensation law in the General District and Circuit Courts in Central Virginia and beyond.

Wayne Powell

Wayne Powell is a 1972 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Richmond where he also received his law degree in 1980. He is multilingual, and is fluent in Spanish and French, among other languages. Between his undergraduate and law studies, he received his MA degree in Spanish and served as an Active Duty Army officer with the First Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas. He served the remainder of his 30 years in the Active Army Reserve and served as an active duty commander of specialized strategic intelligence troops after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. He retired as a full Colonel from Active Duty in June 2002.
Mr. Powell began his legal career as a Staff Clerk to the Justices of the Supreme Court of Virginia, and then spent the majority of his last four decades of practice as a trial lawyer, qualified to practice before all Virginia Federal and state courts, as well as the Superior and Federal courts in the District of Columbia. He is also a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States.
During the 80’s Mr. Powell was in state government service as an Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Division for three years and as a Deputy Commissioner of the Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission, presiding over hundreds of trials involving workers during a six year period.
Mr. Powell’s private practice during much of the 90’s included extensive litigation as a senior trial attorney defending major claims against corporations and individuals. But since 1999, when he founded the Powell Law Group, he has represented criminal defendants, injured individuals in negligence cases as well as injured workers before the Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission.
E. Wayne Powell has been a practitioner of Virginia Workers’ Compensation Law in the Richmond area for almost 40 years.

Joseph McNally
attorney at law
Joe McNally focuses his law practice on Virginia workers’ compensation as well as personal injury. Joe earned his law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law, where he received CALI Awards in Agency and Partnership Law as well as Selected Topics in Virginia Law after obtaining the highest score in each respective class. Additionally, he worked with the Pro Bono Housing Law Program educating tenants on their rights against landlords in housing dispute claims. He also represented juveniles in delinquency and immigration matters through the Children’s Defense Clinic. Prior to returning to Powell Law Group, Joe’s practice focused on representing employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators in defending workers’ compensation claims, contributing to his thorough knowledge of workers’ compensation laws in Virginia.
Before obtaining his law degree, Joe was an instructor of photography and digital art at The Knox School in St. James, NY, as well as Suffolk County Community College in Brentwood, NY. He holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in fine arts. In his spare time, Joe enjoys spending time outdoors with his family.
